Assignment 1

Something I Am

hhhghgh.jpg

Task

I was given the task of selecting one prompt from each category and visualizing the item or objects that were related to my selections ( black, peculiar, and bright). Following that, I needed to visually justify and elaborate on my chosen prompts (storyline, infographic, etc...). Then, based on my define, I integrated all of these prompts to produce 3 ideation. Finally, I needed to expand on my chosen concept, demonstrate development in the prototype stage, and present it. All of the steps must be compiled into a PowerPoint presentation templat that has been provided. I can do it manually, digitally, or with a combination of mediums.

Define

To expand on my chosen prompts, I used storytelling approaches. Because I didn't have enough room to write, I used mixed media to give the description. I took all three prompts and combined them into a narrative about salvation and betrayal.

Ideation

4.png

My 1st ideation is of a salvation story in which a person saves a child from his terrible parents. My 2nd ideation is about a little child who figured out how to go around every challenge on his own. Finally, my 3rd ideation is a betrayed hero who has fallen into evil.

Empathy

All of my drawings were inspired by Japanese animation, game characters, and mythology. The drawings were done by hand, and it took me a whole week to finish. The process was fun, stress-relieving and I was able to use it as an opportunity to sharpen my drawing skill.

Prototype

My selected ideation (3rd) was further developed by adding colour and detail to make it more attractive. This was by far the most straightforward and easiest stage for me. I used mixed media to add in the description, as my lecturer suggested.

Reflection

I was able to put things I have seen before into my assignment especially the empathy stage such as manga, animation, games and etc. I related myself to this task which makes the process fun, destressing and enables me to generate ideas and be creative. Mr paul's lecture as well as videos he shared helped me in getting inspiration.

3.0 Thinking and Problem Solving Skill

When moving to the define stage, I ran into some issues as I misread the assignment brief. Instead of creating one narrative, I did 3 completely unrelated define. Thus I tried to link all 3 narratives into a storyline by adding more description. In the end, Mr. Paul approved my define stage. I was able to stick back to my initial narrative without affecting ideation stage.

6.0 Intrapersonal Skills

During tutorials, when my tutor was giving advice to my peers, I made comparisons to my friends' work and self-reflected to improve my current progress. I also made a schedule to serve as a reminder and help me stay on track. I was continually thinking about what can I do to improve next time and what I could have done differently.
