P2a
Re-imaging Public Space
Task
In this group assignment, my members and I were given the task of selecting an existing public area in any region to do a virtual case study. We were tasked with investigating the tangible and intangible features of public space before and after the covid-19 outbreak. Besides, we were also assigned to initiate interventions in Taylor's Lake Side Campus, incorporated with this pandemic. Uni Square was the site of our intervention.
Outcome
Plaza San Martin
Case Study
One of the most representative public spaces of the city of Lima, Peru. This plaza was crowded and bustling all around the clock. The locals were having a wonderful time there, taking in the scenery. Since the pandemic, the Peruvian government has implemented several covid-19 measures to regulate the crowd. We had carried out research on history, accessibility, activities, facilities, covid safety adaptation etc.
Taylor's Lake Side Campus
Area of intervention - Uni Square
The world, including our campus, had changed since the emergence of covid-19. The buzz had died down, and students were rarely seen hanging out outside. Thus, we sought to turn Uni Square into a safe space for Taylorians to stay, stroll and have a small gathering.
