Travel Guide Pamphlet
Task
This assignment required me to create a travel guide pamphlet for my chosen place of interest, Ipoh Old Town in Perak. I had to include background, both tangible and intangible elements such as infrastructure, facilities, human activities, culture, accessibility and etc. There was also a requirement for a key plan of my country, Malaysia, and a location plan of my state/place of interest. The pamphlet should be done manually and in an infographic manner.

Front Cover

I chose a heritage shop for my front cover since it best represents my place of interest as Ipoh Old Town is full of this kind of shop.
History, Accessibility & Significant Components

I added information about Ipoh's history as well as how to get there (airport, train station, bus stop...). I also included the landmarks such as Sam Poh Tong temple, Concubine Lane, and Ipoh Train Station.

I classified the road into 3 categories: primary road (orange）, secondary road（yellowish-orange), and tertiary road (yellow). I also classified the buildings into respective categories shown in the legend. Commercial buildings make up the majority of Ipoh Old Town.
Architecture Style

The 3 main building styles in Ipoh Old Town are Neo-classical style (Ipoh Town Hall), Eclectic style Heritage shops), and Art Deco style ( Ruby's Theatre).
Infrastructure & Facilities

Old Town is one of the popular places in Ipoh thanks to its well-equiped infrastructure and facilities. For example, road, bus terminal, train station, post office, school and etc.
Public space, softscape
& Safety

There are few public spaces for locals and visitors to hang out. For safety propose, the Ipoh authorities had installed CCTV all around Old Town and fire hydrant just in case an accident happened since there are old and wooden buildings especially the heritage shop.
Sense of Space & Activities

Ipoh Old Town is popular with its food such as egg tart, chicken bean sprout dish, caramel pudding and etc. There are also many celebrations and events there. During holidays, Ipoh Old Town is crowded with tourists.
Future Development

Ipoh Old Town is a tourism site and protecting its reputation is important. Thus, I planned to implement an automation waste collecting system to maintain its hygiene and cleanliness.

Progress
Draft & Sketch
I planned the composition of my pamphlet and started drafting. Everything was done using pencil as it was easier to make changes and adjustments.
Outline & Colour
I outlined and coloured the sketches. Those annotations were rewrote using pen. After that, I combined all pages into a pamphlet using masking tape.
Do Research & Gather Information
I jobbed down all information I found in my note book. I also did sketches and annotation on the map. After that I double checked all the information I gathered before I start organise my pamphlet.

I did a video recording of me flipping through my pamphlet.
Reflection
2.0 Lifelong Learning
I was able to verify the authenticity of any material I obtained on the internet. Aside from that, I was able to read and interpret maps, so I was able to extract all of the information from them while working on accessibility, zoning, and circulation.
3.0 Thinking and Problem Solving Skills
While working on the composition, I ran into a few issues. It was difficult to fit all of the photographs and information onto a single page. As a result, I looked for pamphlet ideas and designs to obtain some inspiration. I also follow tutorials on how to make a good pamphlet on YouTube. In addition, to solve the space issue, I combined two pages for certain parts.
